Today’s bloom of the day is not a rose, not a daisy… but the humble cucumber flower. And honestly? She’s adorable.
This morning, I caught the perfect moment, bright yellow star-shaped blossoms opening wide, with tiny baby cucumbers just starting to grow behind them. It’s such a simple, cheerful sight and yet most of us walk past it without even noticing.
Somehow, we’ve been taught to admire only “decorative” flowers the showy ones we plant just for beauty. But the blooms in our vegetable gardens? They’re just as unique, just as magical. Each cucumber flower holds the promise of crisp, fresh bites on a summer day. It’s beauty with purpose.
I love the idea that nature never wastes its art. Even the plants we grow for food take a moment to dress up in their own delicate way before giving us their fruit. A reminder that the journey is just as beautiful as the destination 💛
So here’s to noticing the little things the blooms that feed us, the flowers that don’t make it into bouquets and the beauty that’s right under our noses in the garden.
